With it’s unique beauty, the city of Hammamet attracts thousands of visitors every year. Visitors just keep coming back on cheap holidays to enjoy the famous hospitality and gorgeous coastlines.
With flights to Tunisia taking just under three hours, it’s an ideal resort to visit for a short break or a long weekend. It’s a lot more than just beaches and bars as well. The charming medina, surrounded by thick and vast walls, is great for an afternoon’s exploration. In one corner, you’ll find the 15th century Kasbah and in the other, a Folklore Museum. The Sebastian House is a beautiful tribute to Art Deco architecture, built by an Italian Prince whose visitors included Winston Church, Ernest Hemingway and Scott Fitzgerald. With the ocean blue sea acting as a stunning backdrop, this gorgeous amphitheatre is mostly used for music and art events. Get a real taste of the town’s culture by exploring the streets by yourself though.
It’s no wonder the lure of cheap flights and sun is too much for some people! With temperatures reaching over 100 degrees between April and October, you’ll need to stock up on your sun cream! The weather takes a cooler turn come winter, so if you prefer staying out of the sun, this is a great time to visit. You may have to find things to do by yourself though, as many cafe’s and restaurants close during the cooler months.
There are a range of water sports, including windsurfing, water-skiing, jet skiing and even diving courses along the miles of sandy beaches. Or of course, just lie back and enjoy a good book and relaxation. For something a little wilder, rent a car and head to the wide, untouched beaches beyond Yasmine Hammamet. Make sure you have sensible footwear though, and be ready for an adventure.
