After talking about our next holiday with my husband, it was deemed that there were many criteria to fulfil before deciding where we should take our next trip away.
My mother-in-law had passed away a year previous and her final wish was that we took special care of her beloved border collie (Trevor) and as such, I was not happy with the idea of leaving the pooch at home for an extended duration. To complicate things even more, I recently birthed a baby boy who was a little under 6 months old at the time and this meant that we needed to choose from a selection of baby friendly holidays too.
We had only taken holidays abroad before but it turned out that a fantastic location was just on our doorstop (well, in the UK anyway): Newquay in Cornwall. Dog friendly self catering accommodation was available including a vast range of cottages. The cottage we selected was ideally located next to a vast area of woodland for exploring and walking Trevor in at the same time! Because we had rented an entire property for the week, the accommodation was also really suitable for our little one. Our secluded privacy meant that we avoided the noise of other tourists in the evening went it was time to put him down to sleep.
I’d very much recommend cottages in Cornwall for anyone needing a bit of flexibility as part of their next vacation but besides this, Cornwall’s sandy beaches are beautiful and goods and services are cheaper than in other areas of the UK meaning you’ll have a particularly cheap break away, especially if you take the self catered route like we did. My husband and I also loved taking a tour around Pendennis Castle and in the evening we set up and enjoyed a picnic on a hill which was close by to the building and the sunset looked incredible from this spot.
A Fun Fact...
